4-H: Learn to Raise Chickens!

In a new pilot program, Rockingham County 4-H is partnering with New Roots Farm to teach raising meat chickens!

Learn  to raise chickens for eating in new pilot program!

Initial Planning Meeting on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at 5:30 p.m.
Rockingham County 4-H Office

In collaboration with New Roots Farm in Newmarket, we will raise poultry together this fall and then prepare them for eating in early November.

This is a chance for inexperienced youth to learn about raising poultry and for experienced youth to learn more about sustainable practices and butchering.

This is a pilot program and space will be limited! Let us know at the office as soon as possible if you would like to sign up.

Participants will have chance to work with birds they already own or be part of a group purchase.

We will work as a group to determine suitable places to raise the birds. Participants will be able to do so at their own home or collaborate with other families.

For more information or to register, contact the Rockingham County 4-H Office at (603) 679-5616 or [email protected].
