As part of their Climate Stewards series, Wells Reserve at Laudholm is hosting “You, Your Food, and the Survival of the Planet,”  a moderated panel exploring the connections between food choice and climate change. Join Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, Maine Farmland Trust director John Piotti, and legendary conservationist, gardener, and writer Mort Mather on Tuesday, August 27th at 6 pm:

Hear from a panel of experts who will address the connection between our food choices and climate change:

• Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree will talk about legislation on the federal level that proposes reforms to better support farmers, increase access to healthy foods for consumers, and provide stable funding to programs that support local agriculture.
John Piotti, Executive Director of Maine Farmland Trust, will speak about the importance of saving farmland and securing a future for farmers.
Mort Mather, founder and first president of Laudholm Trust and past president of the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, will discuss the connection between choosing local foods and reducing our carbon footprints.

Following the program, we will raffle a $50 gift certificate to a CSA (community supported agriculture) of the winner’s choice. $5 suggested donation. Registration is recommended, through Facebook or online.
