Hit the New Hampshire Ice Cream Trail

This week’s weather couldn’t be better for sampling ice cream made with New Hampshire dairy products. Granite State Dairy Promotion (GSDP) has an instant hit with its New Hampshire Ice Cream Trail guide to help with finding new scoop shops to try. The retro-look map identifies 28 places serving ice cream made with New Hampshire dairy products. Bishop’s Homemade Ice Cream in Littleton has even created a “New Hampshire Ice Cream Trail Sundae” to celebrate the new publication—vanilla ice cream topped with almonds, cranberries, cherries, raisins and pistachios. Blake’s Ice Cream and the Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food are supporting sponsors of the trail map.

Langdon dairy farmer and GSDP board member Steve Holmes came up with the idea for an ice cream trail. The cone guide follows on the success of the NH Wine and Cheese Trail and the Garden Guide and Taste of New Hampshire maps published jointly by the Department of Agriculture, Markets & Food and the Department of Resources & Economic Development (DRED) Division of Travel and Tourism (http://agriculture.nh.gov ).

GSDP Director Amy Hall instantly latched onto the ice cream trail idea, adding a dollop of ice cream facts and information on the state’s dairy farms. Find the map on the Granite State Dairy Promotion website www.nhdairypromo.org or contact Amy Hall at 603-271-3696 or [email protected] to request a copy. It may be found at the I-93 welcome centers and other places. Read more…
