10am – 4pm

On August 11th Slow Food Seacoast, in partnership with the Piscataqua Garden Club and Strawbery Banke Museum, will present a tour of amazing gardens that all feature an edible component in their landscape. Take inspiration from Seacoast area gardeners who have integrated fruits, nuts, herbs, veggies, bees and chickens into their yards in sustainable and creative ways.

The tour begins at Strawbery Banke Museum where tour participants will be invited to visit and view a variety of historic edible, organic, heirloom gardens on site including the new ethnobotanical teaching herb garden, community gardens, 17th century raised bed kitchen gardens, immigrant gardens victory gardens, orchards and a children’s garden. Each ticket-holder will receive a garden location guide which includes information on:

– unique garden features
– facilities available
– featured foods and activities
– heirloom seeds

The tour runs from 10 – 4 with last admissions at 3:30. If you wish to view all gardens, please plan on taking most of the day.

In addition to the tour, Slow Food Seacoast is hosting a Garden Tour Gala and Edible Fundraiser on Saturday, August 10th from 4:30 – 7:00pm. Enjoy an evening of fine local food prepared and presented by The Green Monkey Restaurant.
