Worm Composting! Keeping in mind Permaculture Principle # 3 Obtain a Yield (you get amazing compost!), Permaculture Principle #6 Produce no Waste (turn those kitchen scraps into compost), join us for a workshop on composting with worms.Worms are the ultimate vehicles of turning waste into food!
Vermicomposting, or worm composting, is a great way to turn those kitchen scraps into “organic gold” and keep them out of the waste stream. Worm composting is especially useful when you want to keep composting, but don’t want to trek outside to that compost bin in the middle of winter, or live in a space (such as an apartment) where an outside compost bin is not feasible.
In addition to a hands on “how-to”, Mary will show you how to build a worm bin for less than $15. Other topics will include feeding and monitoring your bin, troubleshooting and harvesting worm compost as a soil amendment.
The class will run for approximately 1.5 hours (with time for questions), and will follow with a potluck around 6pm. We are charging on a sliding scale of $5-20.
