Sausage and Pickle Making Workshop
Do you often think that Aunt Vera’s pickle recipe is so much better than the ones in the store? Learn how you can transform your family recipes into a product for sale at this this hands on sausage and pickle making workshop led by Acorn Kitchen director Susan Tuveson. Susan will share preparation techniques and speak about the important role that community kitchens play as part of our local food system. Farmers, chefs and consumers each can benefit from the services community kitchens have to offer. Information on the proper labeling, packaging, types of casings and regulatory requirements required to bring value added products to market will also be provided.
Workshop Specifics: Limited to 12 participants. $10 Slow Food USA Members / $15 for non-members. Payment by cash or check at the door.

Participant Requirements: Long hair must be tied back, sleeves short or able to roll up, close-toed shoes. Bring your own knife if you have a favorite and it is nice and sharp!

To REGISTER, please email us at [email protected]. Specific questions about the workshop content can be directed to Susan at (207) 332-4425.

Potluck Supper
Join us for a Sausage and Pickles Potluck Sunday Supper following the workshop. Bring a dish to share with this same theme, perhaps your own family recipe or pickles you made in 2012. Compare your recipes with others and share secret ingredients! We’ll sample some of the wares from the workshop and share a meal. Afterwords, we’ll hear a bit more from Susan about the workshop and the newly opened Acorn Kitchen.

Please bring your own dishware, utensils and beverages.

Space is limited for both workshop and dinner. Please RSVP to [email protected].
