SAMM Seeks Volunteers for the 2018 Season!

The Seacoast Area Mobile Market, SAMM, is seeking volunteer help for the 2018 summer season!

Volunteer needs are from 11am-5pm on Mondays and Fridays during the SAMM 2018 Season, which runs June 18-September 28. Volunteers can sign up for whole or partial days and commit by week, but a minimum of 4 weeks (non-consecutive is OK) is preferred.

Volunteers will assist customers, help with picking up product, stocking the van and setting up/breaking down at each site. It is recommended that volunteers be able to tolerate hot summer conditions and also be able to lift 20lbs or more.

To learn more about SAMM, and to see our stop locations and schedule visit our webpage. Anyone interested in volunteering should e-mail our SAMM Coordinator, Celeste Gingras.

    1. Hi Lisa, SAMM does not have a community stop in Portsmouth, although we visit some nearby towns listed on the flyer. Portsmouth does have an excellent market on Saturdays which accepts SNAP and is accessible by public transit.

    1. Hi Suzanne, Seacoast Eat Local works very hard to add jobs in our community that support a living wage. We have recently been fortunate enough to add a part time, year round position and to hire some summer market help. We also have a full time, grant funded position to support the mobile market. The truth is, we sometimes need more help than we can afford- as is the case here. As with all other non-profits, we supplement our staff time as needed with structured educational for-credit opportunities for interns and also with volunteer help. Providing volunteer opportunities obviously helps Seacoast Eat Local, but also provides a valuable way for individuals in the community to better understand and be involved in our work. We ensure that volunteers with Seacoast Eat Local have a positive experience with us, understand how much the donation of their time is appreciated and are given tasks that are appropriate for volunteers. We hope you might consider volunteering with us one day!
