Join in a yoga class fundraising for Yoga Mala

Just because Yoga Mala is fully registered doesn’t mean you can’t participate!

Yoga MalaFirst, of course, you can donate directly.

There’s also a bunch of Mini Mala fundraising classes happening around the seacoast, so you can get your yoga flow going for the great causes of keeping people fed, warm, and healthy (including benefitting Seacoast Eat Local’s SNAP/EBT at farmers’ markets program), whether or not you’re Mala’ing on March 2.

February 16: Restorative Yoga with Thai Massage
Yoga in ME, Eliot, ME
Sundays, 11am to 12:15pm

“In this special class, taught by Nancy Garnhart, MS, LMT, you will be guided into restorative yoga poses supported by blankets and bolsters. While you remain in poses, each student will receive skilled adjustments and Thai Massage that will support you in experiencing the pose more deeply. This class is not only sure to be completely blissful but it is also free of charge with any donation to the Yoga Mala!” More info >

February 16: Partner for a Cause

“Sometimes we need to have a little fun in our yoga practice. Partner yoga is a fun, creative way to share yoga with a friend (or someone special) and try out traditional yoga poses in a new, engaging way. Come with a friend or by yourself…we’ll pair up those who need a partner. For beginners and experienced yogis alike, we’ll explore many fun ways you can do yoga poses together, separate and assisting each other. Join Sarah & Missi for what sure to be a fun filled evening. Recommended donation is $10-$20. Please register under our class schedule so we know how many will be joining us. “Join Michelle C for a 90 minute vinyasa yoga class. Flow through creative standing pose sequences that will create energy and vitality in your body. February 21: Sun Salutation Workshop to Benefit Yoga Mala

“Join Rae Lynn, for a class devoted to increasing your embodied awareness of the postures and connecting breath that create the flowing Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar A & B).   We will delve into the foundational principles with many anatomic “ah-ha’s” to promote your body awareness specific to each pose producing increased effectiveness, healthy alignment, and greater connectedness with:   Tadasana (Standing Mountain Pose), Uttansana (Forward Fold), Ardha Uttanasana (Half Fold), Plank, (Bhujangasana) Cobra, Downward Dog, (Utkatasana) Chair  and Warrior 1. Many options and variations will be taught for each of the steps of Sun Salutation A & B, leading to an increased tool-box of knowledge upon which to draw during Vinyasa Flow classes and during the 108 Sun Salutes of the Yoga Mala. Cost $20, all proceeds from this class will be donated to the Yoga Mala. Pre-registration required.” More info and registration >

“Cash donation required at the door – You choose the amount that’s right for you! Support Team Self Awakening Yoga Studio as we raise money for the Sixth Annual Seacoast Yoga Mala a grassroots fundraising event sponsored by local yoga studios. A Yoga Mala is a set of 108 Sun Salutations. February 24: 108 Om Mediation

“I always wanted to create an event that was surrounded by my three favorite things in celebration of the new season coming. Here it is! 10 minutes of Svasana, 108 Oms, and 108 breaths in meditation. This is a donation class with proceeds going to the Yoga Mala and the money being donated to SNAP and SATYA. Bring a mat and anything that you love during Svasana (mediation pillow, bolster, blanket, or eye pillows are welcome!)We will start promply at 6:30pm so please come on time. “The Chakra system involves the seven major energy, gland and nerve centers of the body from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. You will be guided through each center with postures and breathing techniques. The class ends with a deep relaxation. The class is appropriate for beginners and continuing students, as each student is guided to practice at their own pace.”

March 2: Yoga Mala Benefit Class

“This year’s Yoga Mala is full but you can still breathe and move with the entire seacoast yoga community. We will be having an all-levels vinyasa class on Sunday March 2nd from 9:30am to 11:00am at the Portsmouth studio. This will be a donation class for the Yoga Mala and will be led by Katie Buzuvis. Katie has been teaching on the seacoast for over 10 years. All are welcome and you’ll do some sun salutes for sure. The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire and ChildLight Yoga have partnered to help promote Seacoast Yoga Mala. As a show of thanks to the many volunteers who are fundraising for this event, The Children’s Museum will offer buy-one get-one free admission to be used anytime in the month of March  to all Yoga Mala participants.
