Meat Marketing Workshop
New Entry Sustainable Farming Project
The Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, 200 Westboro Rd, North Grafton, MA
Tuesday, June 11, 2013
9:30am – 3:30pm

Smart marketing is essential if you want to make a profit raising livestock in New England, and this workshop gives you a unique opportunity to learn meat marketing strategies from the experts. Featuring guest speakers Matt LeRoux (Agricultural Marketing Specialist, Cornell Cooperative Extension) and Jason Bond (chef and founder, Bondir Restuarant).

This workshop is for any New England livestock farmer – beginning, experienced, or prospective – exploring how best to market their lamb, beef, pork, goat, or other meat animals. Topics covered will include:

– Finding and communicating with your target market
– Comparing marketing channels (farmers markets, freezer trade, etc.)
– Selling the whole animal
– Selecting and pricing cuts
– Selling to restaurants (from the chef’s perspective)

… and more, plus plenty of time for Q&A. And if you’re thinking that this sounds like a boring way to spend a June day, trust us: We’ve seen Matt give this talk, and it’s going to be worth your while.

Sponsored in part by the American Lamb Board.

Cost: $40 per person registration includes lunch and resource materials. (You may add up to 3 additional registrants from the same farm or organization at $35/ea.) Register online by June 7th.
