MaineFare: A Celebration of Maine’s Local Food Traditions, September 7

Celebrate local food and farming at the MaineFare 2012, hosted by Maine Farmland Trust on Friday, September 7th, in Downtown Belfast. This all-day event features an expanded Farmer’s Market, MaineFare Midway, Farmers’ Market Gourmet Lunch, “Truck Farm” film screening, Food and Farming Panel Discussions, and “Local Plates” —  a farm-to-table dining experience at downtown restaurants!

9AM to 3PM – Farmer’s Market and MaineFare Midway
Over 50 Vendors of local vegetables, meats, cheeses, and prepared foods

12PM – Farmer’s Market Lunch
Fresh gourmet lunch served on High Street

1PM – “How Maine can feed ourselves”
Opening Remarks from John Piotti, Maine Farmland Trust executive Director

1:30PM – Panel Discussions
“Feeding Maine”: How Maine can feed itself (and help feed New England), Panel with expertise in five areas

3:30PM – Milk and Cookies
Maine’s Own Organic “MOO” Milk and fresh baked cookies from Sweet Henry’s Bakery

4PM – Film Screening “Truck Farm”
followed by Panel Discussion “Moving Forward”

6-9PM – “Local Plates” A farm to table dining experience
Local fare prepared by participating Belfast restaurants in collaboration with the Belfast First Friday Art Walk
