Local Food & Community Self-Governance Forum, June 18

From Food for Maine’s Future:

Local Food and Community Self-Governance Forum #1 Planned for Blue Hill

A community forum will be held at the Blue Hill Town Hall on Monday, June 18 at 5:30pm to review and discuss the Local Food & Community Self-Governance Ordinance passed by six Maine towns, including four in Hancock County. The forum is sponsored by the Town of Sedgwick’s Community Self-Governance Committee and the Town of Blue Hill. Presentations by town officials, committee members, and the public will cover the basis of authority upon which the Local Food & Community Self-Governance Ordinance is founded and what activities are and are not covered by the ordinance. There will be updates from other towns around the state that have taken up the ordinance, including at least three towns scheduled to vote June 13.  Legislators, town officials, and residents from towns that have passed or are considering a local food ordinance are encouraged to attend. There will be time reserved for public comment and questions. This forum is free and open to the public. For more information please contact Doug Wollmar at 359-8720 or [email protected].
