Intro to Driving Draft Horses

Participants in this workshop will have a hand-on experience with the draft horses that power our farm. We will cover animal handling and haltering. Get our hands-on harnesses to compare styles and correct fit. We will be focusing on learning line handling and driving techniques before were attached to a horse. Using the round pen as a safe and comfortable place for student and horse alike, we will work on ground driving the single horse, a team of two horses, and finally spend some time learning how to hitch to and drive a wheeled for cart. Students can expect to have plenty of question and answer time, class size is limited to make our interactions more meaningful. This workshop will give the beginner the foundation knowledge to build their teamster skills off of, whether that may pertain to farming, logging or pleasure driving.

Cost $100 per person includes a farm grown lunch. Space is limited to 5 people for meaningful one on one instruction. Please pre-register soon to reserve a spot.
