Holiday Shopping at the Winter Farmers’ Market in Exeter, December 8

The holidays are coming! The holidays are coming!

Doesn’t it sometimes feel as if they’re a crazed invasion? Relax, take a deep breath, and actually enjoy your shopping at the Winter Farmers’ Market. On Saturday, December 8, from 10am-2pm, at the Exeter High School, farmers and vendors will have everything you need for scrumptious meals, including winter squash, potatoes, carrots, onions, and beets. But there’s more! Pick up pre-made meals to ensure quality, homemade food for those too, too busy nights. Best of all, the market offers unique gifts, all with a local flair. Purchase a tote bag from the Seacoast Eat Local table, and fill it with vegetables, herbs, and dried beans for a soup bag. Or try tea, honey, and coffee cake for a breakfast theme. A “pamper me” tote could have handcrafted lotions and salves, wine, and chocolate. Have someone on your list who’s a DIY type? Try a cheese kit or skeins of yarn. Top off your distinctive present with a Friend of the Market button, to demonstrate both where you bought your fabulous items and your support of the markets! See you on Saturday!

About the Location
Exeter High School is located at 315 Epping Road, Exeter, NH. Follow Route 101 to exit 9, then Route 27 west 1.8 miles. Here’s a map!

Happy Hannukah!
The Festival of Lights begins at sundown on December 8th, with time enough to gather up ingredients from the market beforehand for celebratory dinners, including very local latkes. Potatoes, onions, eggs, flour, salt, and oil are all available at the market on Saturday. You’ll also find many ingredients for these takes on the latke, including celery root, butternut squash, parsnip, and beet latkes. Look for ingredients like horseradish and apples for latke toppings, too. How to make classic potato latkes (video and recipe) >

New Product at the Market: Locally Made Canola Oil
Coppal House Farm is now selling their own non-GMO canola oil at the winter markets — yet another fabulous gift idea and a way to make the celebration of Hanakuah even more special.

Food Donations Welcome
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Exeter will be at the December 8 market collecting food donations for those in need. Please consider purchasing extra potatoes, eggs, or other items to help local families.
