The 200th anniversary of War of 1812, one of the pivotal wars in US history, is upon us. Join us as cookbook author, Katie Barnes Moose, lectures about this time period from the unique vantage point of food. She will give a talk on the history of the period leading up to the War of 1812 including foods and herbs consumed at the time and how they were provided. In addition she will give a cooking demonstration with foods typical of the period.

Katie Barnes Moose, who lives in Maryland, is a descendant of the Clagett (Claggett) family of Maryland as well as old New England whaling families. She is the author of many cook books including New England’s Bounty: Cooking with Regional Favorites which contains recipes from the earliest Native Americans to the influx of international flavors as the region became populated by immigrants. Signed copies of her books will be available for sale at the lecture.
