Hearth-Cooking Workshop: End of Summer
Stoodley’s Tavern, Strawbery Banke Museum, 17 Hancock St, Portsmouth, NH
Saturday, September 27, 2014
11 am – 1 pm
Strawbery Banke offers a special “End of Summer” hearth cooking experience in Stoodley’s Tavern, the c. 1761 building at 17 Hancock Street that now serves as the museum’s Education Center. The two-hour workshop (11 am to 1 pm) allows participants to learn open-hearth cooking skills in the Tavern Hearth Room as they make and enjoy a traditional menu of lobster and corn chowder, pickled vegetable salad, thirded-bread (flour was hard to come by at the time so they split the recipe: 1/3 wheat flour, 1/3 rye and 1/3 corn meal), cheese, churned butter and Marlborough Pie.
Tickets: $55 for members (use promotion code HEARTH0914 when you purchase tickets online), $65 per person for non-members.
