Food Day is a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable, sustainable food with a goal to promote healthier diets, support sustainable farms, and reduce hunger. Register for events, host or find a Food Day event, such as:

UNH will be participating in Food Day with a signature event on October 24th in MUB Theater II:
– 2:30-4 PM: Fair Trade Café
– 4-5:15 PM: Rob Everts, Co-Founder, Equal Exchange. “Equal Exchange: A Radical Model for Global Food, Farming & Business.”  Co-sponsored by the UNH Center for International Education, the Sustainability Institute at UNH, and the Carsey Institute5:15-5:45 PM: Fair Trade Café

The Food & Nutrition Services Staff will be featuring a local menu and have special guests, taste tests and will be promoting the new meal pattern guidelines. We will have an area with  healthy foods displayed representing the five food groups.  We are getting local NH Fishermen caught fish along with local produce.

The Manchester Food Co-op will host a Food Day informational table. Stop by to get a yummy sample to boost your morning energy! Learn more about the Manchester Food Co-op’s grassroots efforts to found a co-op downtown that will increase our community’s access to LOCAL, healthy and real food!

Steven Freeman and Heather Avella, Treasurer and Vice President of the Manchester Food Co-op, will share the values and health benefits of buying local foods and it’s impact on our local economy and why it matters to know where your food is coming from and how it improves your health.
