12 – 4pm; picnic buffet served from 1 – 3pm; games and activities all afternoon

Please join us on Sunday, July 15th for the first annual Farm-a-Q, a family BBQ and picnic at Tuckaway Farm in Lee, NH. If you’ve been a fan of our annual Down on the Farm Potluck Picnic, you will love this new twist on a great gathering. Slow Food is once again partnering with the Heirloom Harvest Project who’s mission is to promote regional heritage foods,  agricultural diversity and the connections among farmers, chefs, and consumers in our community.

We think that mission sounds pretty darn good and so will you, when you get a taste of the delicious, multi-course, buffet style picnic meal that will be offered at this event! We can’t tell you just yet exactly what is on the menu because it will be whatever is fresh and ready in the fields of local farms that week. Similar to the September Heirloom Harvest Barn Dinner,  farmers have been teamed up with chefs to grow out and cook up the best of what’s fresh and ready in mid-July. You can be assured it will be incredibly tasty, impeccably prepared and feature both heirloom vegetables and locally raised heritage breed animals.

Wondering what’s on the menu for Farm-A-Q?

• The 100 Club and Strawbery Banke – Heirloom Salad
• Beach Pea Baking Co. — Veggie Burger Slider, Cornbread and Berry Shortcake
• The Black Birch – Smoked heritage pork belly sandwich with boothby’s blond cucumber kimchi and fava bean schmoo

  1. The Farm a Que was a lot of fun. The food was spectacular I couldn’t pick a favorite they all created the most interesting and delicious creations. The hay ride was an unexpected treat. Not only did you get to tour the farm but the dialogue about our local agriculture and sustainable farming was most informative. I sincerely hope there is a second and more. It was a little warm for playing out in the field but there were plenty of shady places to relax and enjoy the music and the activities of the day.

  2. Thanks Peg, we’ll pass along your kind thoughts to the organizers of the event, Slow Food Seacoast.
