Meet the local-economy pioneer from Philadelphia’s White Dog Cafe, sample farm-to-table treats, and hear stories of Seacoast entrepreneurs dishing out change one plate at a time!
Join us for a lively evening with Judy Wicks, nationally recognized activist and “accidental entrepreneur” who turned a muffin shop into a 200-seat restaurant that became a hub of food activism and social justice, creating change on a local and national scale. Wicks will share her stories, as will Seacoast women leaders in the local food movement, at the Discover Portsmouth Center, 10 Middle St., on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, although RSVPs are requested at [email protected].
Restaurant pioneer and nationally recognized activist Judy Wicks of Philadelphia’s famed White Dog Café will join Seacoast leaders in the local food movement for talk and celebration, offering samples of farm-to-table treats and stories about women serving up change one plate at a time.

Guests at the free event “Dishing Out Change” will meet Wicks as well as Seacoast women farmers, fishermen and food entrepreneurs at the event. The conversations will explore the way women and men can follow both mind and heart in business, doing what’s right and doing well by doing good.
