Back by popular demand, come learn composting with Rian Bedard of EcoMovement Composting! Hosted by Port City Makerspace & The Greater Seacoast Permaculture Group.

Come learn the basics of backyard composting, the dos and don’ts, how to keep your pile active, and the basic science behind it. We’ll also work together to set up a simple composting set up made mostly from scavenged materials at Makerspace. Rian can further talk about how it is done on a large scale at commercial facilities. Bring your questions, success stories and failure stories to share and ask about for some expert advice!

This workshop will cost $20 per person, and will be capped at 20 participants. RSVP for this event here: http://www.portcitymakerspace.com/index.cfm/calendar/composting-workshop-2-4pm/

Rian Bedard is a certified Permaculture Designer and instructor. He started a Zero Waste program as manager of the Me and Ollie’s cafe in Downtown Portsmouth. He worked as Assistant Director of the Green Alliance, where he realized that there was a demand for compost hauling service. In November of 2009 he decided to venture into the hauling industry and started a company called EcoMovement. They currently have over 100 clients and are diverting an estimated 20 tons of food waste from the landfill each week. They will soon be opening a commercial composting facility in the Seacoast as well.
