Community Poultry Processing Day, October 29

Are you having trouble finding somewhere to process your chickens, turkeys or other poultry? Even if you have just a few birds in your backyard, New Entry is planning a way to help you get them to your table (or freezer) safely and humanely:

Community Poultry Processing Day
Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Grafton, MA
Saturday, October 29, 2011
Cost: $4.50 per chicken, $8 per turkey ($25 minimum charge)

Bring your live poultry and leave with cleaned, chilled, bagged birds for the freezer, the grill or the oven! Old laying hens, spare roosters, meat chickens and turkeys all welcome. (Ask us about guineas, ducks and geese.) Birds will be custom-processed for personal consumption only.

The Eastern Massachusetts Mobile Poultry Processing Unit (MPPU) will be set up at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Grafton, Mass. A processing crew will be on hand to humanely handle and process your birds, but you are welcome and encouraged to participate to make sure your birds are done the way you want, to learn how to process poultry, and to see the inner workings of the new MPPU.

Cost is $4.50 per chicken, $8 per turkey ($25 minimum charge). We will provide bags, but be sure to bring a cooler and ice to keep your birds chilled on the ride home.

You MUST sign up by October 25 so we can book your time slot. If we do not receive sufficient interest and a minimum number of birds scheduled, we will not be able to hold the event. For questions or to reserve your time slot, please email [email protected] or call 978-654-6745.
