Amber’s Post: Where to Eat Local this Weekend

This weekend is a transition between summer and winter farmers markets. With the end of the Portsmouth market, you might be wondering where you can purchase convenient and locally sourced food. Supporting the local initiative, there are restaurants spanning from Kittery, Maine to Epping, New Hampshire serving delicious dishes.

In particular, one of my all time favorite places to visit on a Saturday morning is White Heron Tea in Portsmouth. Located at 601 Islington Street, White Heron specializes in organic tea and coffee, in addition to breakfast and lunch items.

My go-to order is their tofu rice bowl with local vegetables and a balsamic vinegar dressing. Warm, comforting, full of protein and essential vitamins, I am always so pleased after eating one of their bowls. In addition, I’ll either order a hot coffee, or a cranberry apple ginger iced tea (which is also so good!!)

So, I urge you to get out this weekend—eat some good food and take in the last days of fall before the cold winter months roll on in!
