Wild Fern Farm Tour and Cooperative Farming Model Discussion

June 2 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

$20

Join us on June 2nd as Liz Willey, the owner/operator of Wild Fern Farm, discusses conducting business within the innovative cooperative model at Bakie Farm. We’ll delve into some of the challenges, and many benefits she has found through this less common approach.

Located in picturesque Kingston, NH, Bakie Farm offers a model of how farms collectively sharing land, infrastructure, and equipment can lower their own costs which in turn can lower the barriers to entry to farming. Bakie Farm currently hosts three vegetable and flower businesses; Wild Fern Farm, Hungry Heart Farm and Bakie Farm Flowers.

Wild Fern Farm is a very small scaled, certified organic vegetable farm which currently supplies some of the Seacoast Eat Local farmer’s markets, the Three River Farmers Alliance food hub, as well as a small CSA. Come join us as we take a walking tour of the three farms at Bakie Farm and end the day with a seedling to take home.

Participating in this workshop is not just an outing; it’s an investment in the future of sustainable agriculture and community resilience. By understanding the intricacies of farming in New Hampshire, attendees equip themselves with knowledge essential for supporting local farmers, fostering food security, and nurturing vibrant, interconnected communities. Moreover, the chance to engage directly with Liz Willey and explore the operations of Bakie Farm provides inspiration and practical know-how for aspiring farmers, seasoned agriculturalists, and sustainability enthusiasts alike.
