Want to build a simple fence?\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mofga.org\/Default.aspx?tabid=302\" target=\"_blank\">Farm &amp; Homestead Day at MOFGA<\/a>, a free event held on Saturday, June 15th, in Unity, Maine, offers hands-on and interactive sessions on farming and homesteading skills:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Farm &amp; Homestead Day at MOFGA \u2014 A Hands-on Skill Sharing Event<\/strong><br \/>\nMOFGA&#8217;s Common Ground Education Center, Crosby Brook Rd, Unity, ME<br \/>\nSaturday, June 14, 2014<br \/>\n9 am \u2013 3 pm<br \/>\nGates open at 7\u00a0am\u00a0for scything<br \/>\nFree and open to the public<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Learn how to:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 weave and spin<br \/>\n\u2022 make your own cording with a lucet or learn rug hooking<br \/>\n\u2022 operate a treadle sewing machine to make a drawstring bag<br \/>\n\u2022 sharpen your own tools<br \/>\n\u2022 make cheese, ice cream, bean hole beans, and kimchi<br \/>\n\u2022 bake bread in a earthen bake oven, cook on a rocket stove<br \/>\n\u2022 manage your herbs for a long season harvest<br \/>\n\u2022 prune and mulch orchard trees<br \/>\n\u2022 build a garden cart, or a bike trailer<br \/>\n\u2022 make paper pots<br \/>\n\u2022 build really raised beds<br \/>\n\u2022 make a pollinator bee box<br \/>\n\u2022 make a coffin<br \/>\n\u2022 build a solar cooker, or a rocket stove for cooking with wood<br \/>\n\u2022 make basic leather shoes<br \/>\n\u2022 handle rabbits and trim their nails and learn how to tattoo their ears<br \/>\n\u2022 learn how to tan rabbit hides using a non-toxic method<br \/>\n\u2022 learn how to mow with a scythe and maintain and sharpen it<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Children of all ages are invited to learn how to:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 build bluebird nesting boxes<br \/>\n\u2022 make paper<br \/>\n\u2022 make paper pots, sow seeds and transplant seedlings<br \/>\n\u2022 plant the really raised beds<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Participants are welcome to bring any extra transplants and seeds\u00a0for a Plant and Seed Exchange.\u00a0Dress appropriately for this rain or shine event.
