The University of New Hampshire at Manchester is offering a free lecture and film series, “Food For Thought: An exploration of what we eat and the impact on people and our planet.” The series will run from September 2011 through April 2012, and includes screenings of Food Inc. and A Farm for the Future, and a presentation on “Renewing America’s Food Traditions: Slow Food, Local Food, and Backyard Diversity” by author Ben Watson. All events are free and open to the public:
Food For Thought: An exploration of what we eat and the impact on people and our planet — A free film and lecture series at UNH Manchester
“Food for Thought” will look at how food is grown and the impact these processes have on people, animals, and our planet. From dependence of food systems on fossil fuels, to the dramatic impact factory farming has on the environment, animals, and our health, the series will look at how we as individuals can drive change that will promote a more sustainable and healthy way of living, and eating.

This 49-minute BBC documentary by wildlife filmmaker Rebecca Hosking investigates how incredibly dependent our food system has become on fossil fuel. Hosking explores more natural ways to approach farming.
