Local Food Report: Dover Farmers’ Market Scavenger Hunt
Kids of all ages had fun at the Dover Farmers’ Market Scavenger Hunt last Wednesday. The afternoon’s activities included a game of guessing the hidden fruit or vegetable by feel alone — some were smooth, some were prickly, and some surprisingly fuzzy!
Many thanks to Becca and Maddie from Cooking Matters, and to Seacoast Growers Association, our partners in this event, for helping us get word out about Seacoast Eat Local’s SNAP/EBT Farmers’ Market Program. Participants using SNAP were able to receive $10 in tokens for use at the farmers’ markets in Dover and Portsmouth. To find additional farmers’ markets in the area that accept SNAP, visit Seacoast Harvest.
Local Food Report features sources of local food on the Seacoast, including farms, farmers’ markets, farmstands, and restaurants and stores. For more information, visit www.seacoasteatlocal.org.
