“All Right, Let’s Plant!”

The White House Kitchen Garden, the first working vegetable garden on White House grounds since Eleanor Roosevelt’s Victory Garden in the 1940’s, was just had its fourth replanting since beginning in 2009. From Let’s Move!:

First Lady Michelle Obama joins students for the spring White House Kitchen Garden planting on the South Grounds, March 26, 2012. Helping Mrs. Obama are Girl Scout Troop 60325 in Fairport, N.Y.; and students from Stetson Elementary School in Chester, Pa.; Kate Mitchell Elementary School in Ames, Iowa; Sumner Elementary School, Greensboro, N.C.; and Bancroft Elementary and Tubman Elementary Schools in Washington, D.C.

At this time, tours of the White House Kitchen Garden are limited to local area schools. However, on April 21st and 22nd, the Annual Spring Garden Tour at the White House will include the Kitchen Garden. The Garden Tours are free and open to the public, with tickets available on a first-come, first served basis. For more information: www.whitehouse.gov.
