CSA Day at the Market, February 11 & 25

Are you considering joining a CSA? We will be featuring CSA Day at the Winter Farmers’ Market at both Exeter and Rollinsford locations during the month of February — come and find the right option for you!

The first of two CSA Days at the Market will be held at the Exeter High School on Saturday, February 11th, during regular market hours, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This annual event offers the opportunity to learn more about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in the Seacoast area and speak directly with CSA farmers. The following farms will be available to answer questions and take sign-ups that day:

The second CSA Day at the Market will be held on Saturday, February 25th, at the Wentworth Greenhouses in Rollinsford. Visit www.seacoasteatlocal.org for a current list of farms offering CSA shares.

Considering a CSA for the first time? Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is a partnership between consumers and farmers in which members buy shares of the farm’s harvest and receive regular allotments of food throughout the growing season. For farmers, this provides much needed cash flow for the beginning of the season, as well as a ready market and community of supporters. Shareholders join in the risks of the growing season but reap the benefits of the harvest. There are diverse options for pick-up locations, share structures, available foods, and farm involvement.

Read about Choosing a CSA and find out “Is a CSA right for you?”, “Why join a CSA?”, and questions to ask when considering a farm. LocalHarvest.org also offers detailed information on CSAs, including tips for potential CSA members.
