Giving Thanks for Local Food

When people hear about a Winter Farmers’ Market here on the Seacoast, the first thing they ask is what could there possibly be to buy, other than potatoes? Held in the light-filled Wentworth Greenhouses in Rollinsford, here’s just a glimpse of the amazing variety, quality and abundance 50+ local farmers and food producers brought this last weekend. Not only are all of the meat and produce grown locally, the prepared foods also include local ingredients. More than 1,800 people poured through the door seeking local food for their Thanksgiving table:

Many thanks to all who came, shoppers and vendors alike — we’re grateful for your continuing support. Special thanks to Veris Wealth Partners, the winter season underwriter, and Wentworth Greenhouses, the Rollinsford market underwriter, whose generousity help make the Winter Farmers’ Market happen. We also appreciate the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation’s assistance in establishing a SNAP/EBT at the Winter Farmers’ Market, a program that increases access to fresh, local food to all.

Join us when the Winter Farmers’ Market returns to Rollinsford, Saturday, December 3rd — plan to bring a friend, and help us grow the demand for local food. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving feasting to all!
