Joel Salatin — The Sheer Ecstasy of Being a Lunatic Farmer
Seacoast Repertory Theatre, 125 Bow Street, Portsmouth, NH
Thursday, September 22, 2011
7 p.m.

Veris Wealth Partners, LLC invites you to spend an evening with Joel Salatin on September 22, 2011, 7 PM, at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre (www.seacoastrep.org), in Portsmouth, NH. Joel will be presenting “The Sheer Ecstasy of Being a Lunatic Farmer.”

Joel Salatin and his family own Polyface Farms (www.polyfacefarms.com) in Virginia, which featured prominently in the NYT bestseller, Omnivore’s Dilemma and the Oscar-nominated documentary, Food, Inc. Author of seven books, he writes and speaks extensively on local food, pastured-based livestock systems, and pigness of pigs. A wordsmith, he describes his occupation as “mob-stocking herbivorous solar conversion lignified carbon sequestration fertilization.” His humorous and conviction-based speeches are akin to theatrical performances, often receiving standing ovations.

“The Sheer Ecstasy Of Being A Lunatic Farmer,” also the title of Joel’s latest book, describes with hilarious stories and drama the difference between Polyface and today’s average farm. If you’ve ever wondered how a local, pasture-based, relationally oriented farm differs from industrial commodity-based machine-driven farms, this presentation takes away the mystery. A wide ranging discussion, this performance ranges from ponds to people to politics. You’ll never think about food and farming the same way. You’ll be challenged, encouraged, and entertained on your way to learning from this self-described lunatic farmer.
