Health from Your Garden Herbs: Making Herbal Infusions
Greater Seacoast Permaculture Group
Sunday, October 23, 2011
5 p.m., followed by a potluck dinner at 6:30
Keeping in mind Permaculture Principle #3 to Obtain a Yield (herbs we can grow or find ourselves if we wish), Permaculture Principle #8 to Integrate Rather Than Segregate (plants rather than vitamin pills), and Permaculture Principle #9 to Use Small and Slow Solutions (again, plants vs pills), we bring you this class on Making Herbal Infusions from your Garden Herbs!
Nourishing herbal infusions, pioneered by herbalists Juliette de Bairacli Levy and Susun Weed, are long-brewed teas using herbs high in vitamins and minerals. This Wise Woman Way tradition gives our bodies the building blocks they need to keep us healthy and well, and is a technique that helps us get the most nutrition we can from these plants. We’ll focus on herbs that we can grow ourselves or easily obtain. This will be hands on—we will make infusions, taste some already brewed, smell the herbs, etc.
Amy has been studying herbal healing for 15 years with herbalists including Susun Weed, Rosemary Gladstar and Deb Soule. The plants themselves are often her best teachers. The class will be about 1 1/2 hours followed by the potluck at 6:30. We are charging for this on a sliding scale of $5–25.
