Top Bar Beekeeping 101: Permaculture Weekend Intensive

The Portland Maine Permaculture group is hosting a weekend intensive, Top Bar Beekeeping 101, this coming January—they expect it to fill up fast so we’re posting now!

Top Bar Beekeeping 101: A Weekend Intensive for the Permaculture Community
Portland Maine Permaculture
Urban Farm Fermentory, 200 Anderson St, Portland, ME
Saturday, January 21–Sunday, January 22, 2012

Are you interested in producing honey & beeswax for yourself and your community? Are you concerned about the health of pollinators, including the honey bee? Might honey bees support the health and vitality of your edible permaculture “ecosystem?”

Then join us for a very special weekend intenstive, Top Bar Beekeeping 101, a two-day weekend course with Christy Hemenway of Gold Star Honeybees. Participants in this course will learn everything they need to know to get started with top bar beekeeping in 2012, including theory, practice, tools and equipment options, trouble-shooting and—of course—the health of the bees themselves.

All-inclusive price for permaculture group members only $175 early registration (before October 15th) then $200 after that. Includes all organic light breakfast, snacks, coffee, tea and lunch as well as handouts and electronic media for download after the event.

Space is limited to 25 people to ensure a superior learning event. The course will run from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on both days. Please bring a notebook and your potluck kit (plate/bowl/cup/mug/utensils/napkin) for a zero-waste event.
