Learn to take advantage of the summer grilling season with Brookford Farm’s next cooking class:
Brookford Farm Cooking Series: Grilling
On the Farm at 278 Sligo Road, Rollinsford, NH
Sunday, July 17, 2011
From advanced cooks to those who are looking for an introduction to local cooking, Brookford cooking workshops offer new ideas for busy people. We focus on the logistics of cooking large meals which are equally suitable for entertaining a crowd or for making ahead of a busy week to use as healthful and delicious leftovers. With the exception of salt and some spices, we cook a thousand percent local.
A huge variety of foods can be grilled outdoors, from compound burgers and vegetarian patties to grilled breads and summer vegetables. In this workshop we’ll make the most out of cooking outside, and then compare the startling textures, colors, and aromas of grilled foods to their indoor relatives.
Eating locally, particularly in northern climates, means knowing how to prepare, preserve, and make the most of seasonally available foods in myriad ways. Mary Brower of Brookford Farm has experience as a professional cook, baker, and caterer, and has a life-long fascination with the art of cooking. She writes recipes for Brookford Farm’s recipe blog and monthly newsletters, and is the author of self-published cooking and baking books.
Space in the workshops is limited, and registration by email is required. Cost is $30 for members of the public, $15 for Brookford Farm CSA members. Included with the price of the course are handouts and recipe cards, as well as a shared meal with the food we’ve prepared. Gift certificates are available.
